Sos Mi Obelisco

Blonde damsel sings to her Latino Lover:

‘You are my Obelisk, my Eiffel Tower, my Big Bené’

Fired by the heady Argentine machismo, I staged a series of photos and filmed interviews at the foot of the obelisk, an honoured monument in the heart of Buenos Aires.

I interviewed tourists, ice cream vendors, students, old men – asking everybody their opinion of the Obelisk. One French man responded: “C’est… Phallique!”

Inspired by Marcos Lopez, a photographer who thrives on bright vulgar colours, mass-commercialization and pop culture. I created a performance photo shoot. Daniel and I played with the following ideas that we were in a cheap 50’s postcard, a Mexican soap opera, Disneyland, King Kong/Superhero movie Burger King advertisement.
